There are different definitions and understandings of social entrepreneurship. One reason for this is, that the legal forms of businesses differ by country and there is no common understanding on the term ´social business´ either. One may think of a non-profit organisation and someone else of a profitable business that donates money to good causes.
To us, a social entrepreneur is
A person who establishes an enterprise with the aim of solving social problems or effecting social change
Wikipedia provides more details on the concept.
Since there are also different understandings on what a beneficial contribution to society may look like, we like to refer to the UN sustainable development goals to avoid any misunderstandings.
